Tikvah Mental Health & Wellness Program

Welcome to Tikvah International Ministries

A Christian nonprofit bringing hope, healing, and mental health support to East Africa

At Tikvah International Ministries, we believe that mental health is wealth. As a Christian non-profit organization rooted in faith, compassion, and hope, our mission is to break the silence around mental health and restore emotional and spiritual well-being in underserved communities throughout Uganda and Kenya. Through our Mental Health & Wellness Program, we are addressing urgent needs by building awareness, reducing stigma, and equipping local schools, families, and communities with the tools they need to thrive.

About Us

Guided by the biblical values of hope, love, compassion, and healing, Tikvah International Ministries is working to bridge the mental health gap in East Africa. Our programs are community-based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive — recognizing that true healing comes when the mind, body, and spirit are restored together.

We focus on youth, families, educators, and faith leaders, equipping them with skills, knowledge, and resources to address mental health challenges early and effectively.

Our Mental Health & Wellness Program

We are building a future where every child, family, and community has access to mental health support. Our key program areas include:

1. School Mental Health Clubs

We partner with schools to establish safe spaces for youth to learn about mental health, build emotional resilience, and express themselves through art, music, storytelling, and drama.

2. Community Training and Outreach

We train teachers, parents, pastors, and community leaders to recognize signs of mental distress and respond with empathy, resources, and appropriate referrals.

3. Awareness Campaigns

Through film screenings, local events, and media outreach, we challenge stigma and raise awareness that mental health is just as important as physical health.

4. Counseling and Support Services

We collaborate with local professionals to provide trauma-informed counseling and peer support services for individuals and families navigating emotional challenges.

5. Capacity Building

We empower a new generation of East African mental health advocates by training volunteer staff, university students, and lay leaders in basic mental health care, psychosocial support, and crisis response.
